The Department of African American Studies in the Emory College of Arts and Sciences at Emory University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor with a specialization in either African and/or the African Diaspora and arts and entertainment (e.g. rap/hip-hop, film/TV/media) OR African and/or the African Diaspora and medicine, medical research, and/or bioethics and reproductive justice. The appointment term is January 1, 2026, through July 31, 2026; the salary is $55K. The position is not renewable. The successful candidate must be prepared to teach two courses (grad or undergrad, depending on departmental needs) in the spring semester and work closely with the department to create programming and curriculum to support our major.

Qualifications: All applicants must hold a Ph.D. and/or an MFA by the appointment start date and possess exceptional research, teaching, and writing skills.
